English 1 CP (Period 4)

Objective:

To identify the elements of an effective persuasive speech.

In class:

1). Discussed things to do and not do while presenting a persuasive speech.

2). Reviewed persuasive speech rubric and compared it to initial class list of things to do and not do.

3). Watched sample speeches and evaluated them according to the rubric.

Homework:

Prepare "Lady or the Tiger" Vocabulary Part 2. Thing of a controversial topic about which you would like to speak.

English 3 CP (Periods 1 & 5)

Objective:

To identify and discuss the important themes from Dante's Inferno.

In class:

1). Reading of final canto from Dante's Paradiso. Quick comparison to The Inferno.

2). Review of student questions about Dante's work.

3). Discussion of themes from The Inferno and how they relate to modern attitudes and beliefs.

Homework:

Prepare for Being There/Inferno test tomorrow.
