English 1 CP (Period 4)

Objective:

To decide whether or not Penelope's reaction to Odysseus' return is reasonable.

In class:

1). "Lady or the Tiger" Vocabulary Quiz #1.

2). Answered Twenty Year Absence Hypothetical Questions.

3). Based on class responses to the Hypothetical Questions, decided if Penelope's reaction to her husband's return was appropriate and reasonable.

Homework:

Prepare Open-Ended Question for Odyssey, Assignment 5. Prepare for Odyssey test.

English 3 CP (Periods 1 & 5)

Objective:

To define "allegory" and identify the message about ignorance contained within the Garden of Eden biblical story.

In class:

1). Completed of worksheet that consists of hypothetical situations. Situations asked students to decide if knowledge or ignorance was a better option in each particular case.

2). Discussed situations in the worksheet.

3). Read Garden of Eden story. Answered comprehension questions. Identified the story's message about ignorance vs. knowledge.

4). Defined allegory. Answered questions about first two chapters of Being There which show how the novel is an allegory for the Garden of Eden story.

Homework:

Read Being There, chapter 3. Research Paper rough draft due Wednesday, 2/20. Vocabulary Quiz #10, Friday, 2/15.
