Objective:

To identify which characters remain loyal to Odysseus.

In class:

1). Journal entry: Describe an experience of loyalty from your life (when you showed loyalty to another person, when someone showed loyalty to you, etc.).

2). Discussed loyalty and what it means to be loyal.

3). Worked in groups to identify characters that have shown loyalty to Odysseus. Identified particular actions that proved the loyalty of the characters. Completed the Odyssey Loyalty handout.

Homework:

The Odyssey, Assignment 5. "Lady or the Tiger" Vocabulary Quiz 1 (Words 1-15).

Objective:

To decide whether or not Penelope's reaction to Odysseus' return is reasonable.

In class:

1). "Lady or the Tiger" Vocabulary Quiz #1.

2). Answered Twenty Year Absence Hypothetical Questions.

3). Based on class responses to the Hypothetical Questions, decided if Penelope's reaction to her husband's return was appropriate and reasonable.
